C38 – Wool Sale – 18 March 2021

Prices remained firm to slightly dearer for all types at todays South Island sale. With one of the largest offerings of the year between the North and South Island it was encouraging to see the market maintain levels from the previous week with competition well spread amongst all exporters. Good inquiry recently from overseas markets especially China is starting to bring back some positive signs. The offering was predominately made up of lambs wool and average to poor style fleece. Poor preparation in the shed is becoming increasingly obvious and with the continued low wool price this is not allowing farmers to increase labour units in the shed. Going forward and with prices gradually moving up this issue maybe addressed for the benefit of everyone involved.
