C38 – Wool Sale – 19 March 2020

Today's wool sale experienced what has been happening in the world economy recently with a lot of uncertainty and a currency that depreciated 8.5% in a week, and continued to be very volatile throughout the sale. Prices were softer across all categories with Lambs wool suffering the most, with decreases of up to 30 cents clean. We are now in unchartered waters, with many exporters concerned with where the markets are heading in the short term. China is seeing some activity in their mills but at reduced levels. The Indian market where there has been quite a lot of business lately from NZ Exporters has had to review their purchasing as a lot of their product goes to Europe and the USA which have come to a standstill due to the Coronavirus issues!
