At long last, we are seeing some positive signs in the wool market with some good demand for pre lamb crossbred fleece and crossbred shears. Crossbred oddments also were in good demand. Average coloured fleece remained unchanged with poorer coloured types dearer. The first quantity of Mid Micron wool mainly out of Nth Canterbury saw good demand for 26.5, 27.5 and 28 micron types with the balance unchanged. These wools were showing signs of the summer drought which exporters became very selective on any that were tender or short in staple length. A small offer Merino mainly oddments and second shear saw the market very strong which hopefully is a positive sign
for the coming season.
