C17 – Wool Sale – 22 October 2020

Finally we can report some positive signs from todays South Island wool sale. Strong competition from a full bench of buyers saw prices for crossbred wool increase up to 13%. Mid micron types were up to 30% dearer with wools 19.0 to 26.0 micron up to 25% dearer and finer than 19.0 up to 10% dearer. A major lift in Australia driven by strong Chinese business in recent weeks has been the main driver. The good quality on offer, along with strong competition, resulted in one of the biggest one day market lifts we have seen in a long time. We hope this trend continues and is sustainable.
